The Humane Society of York County (HSYC) was founded in 1976 to help address the needs of an ever-growing animal population. Originally, all animals were cared for in the homes of dedicated volunteers. In 1999 we moved to 2036 Carolina Place in Fort Mill, SC, with the capacity to house over ninety cats and about fifty dogs. In 2011, we were so excited to announce that we had moved into our current location at 8177 Regent Parkway with increased capacity and a beautiful facility. We continue to have a small part-time staff, a director, and a group of wonderful volunteers that keep our Rescue and PAWSibilities Thrift Shop running!
The HSYC is a qualified 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law and 100% of your donation remains with the HSYC. Your donation is especially important as we receive no funding from the city, county or state and we are not affiliated with or supported by the Humane Society of the United States, the ASPCA or any other animal welfare organization.
The future of the Humane Society of York County (HSYC) depends on community involvement and generous donations. Please help us continue to “give abandoned animals a second chance.” There are several ways that you can help including monetary donations, supply donations, donations to our Thrift Shop, shopping at our Thrift Shop and VOLUNTEERING at both! It takes a village to make this happen and WE NEED YOU!

All of the listed individuals (as well as many volunteers and staff members) do much more than is listed. Without our dedicated volunteers that support our limited number of paid part-time staff, the rescue and thrift shop would have great difficulty continuing to save abandoned animals in our area. We are always looking for volunteers. If you are interested, please visit the Volunteers page for more information.
