Clear the Shelters Event

The HSYC is participating in this international event. For one day only, all adoption fees will be waived!!! As well, we'll be extending our adoption hours to 10am - 4pm.

 

Our adoption processes will be condensed into 1 DAY!

 

Many may ask....How can we afford FREE adoptions for this event? It's important to note that our adoption fee does NOT cover the care costs associated to an adoptable pet. For instance, on average it costs $250 per pet for intake: vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, etc... Being a NO KILL rescue, many of our pets have been with us for some time. The HSYC has accepted participating in this effort for many reason, predominantly for the media opportunity of gaining supporters and donors for our cause. The more people aware of our adoptable babies, the wider their exposure and opportunity to find the right people to adopt! As well, we will adhere to the following procedures ... so feel confident that not just anyone can come and take an adoptable FURbaby. We are very stringent on our requirements so that our FURbabies are adopted into their FURever homes with families that are adamant about adding a true family member to their life!

 

Please be prepared....

  • If you have pets at home and are looking to add to your furry family, you are required to bring documentation of proof showing up to date vaccination and spay/neuter completion for every pet in the home! 
  • Meet and Greet will be required for canine adoptions if you have a canine in your family already.
  • Home visits will be required for ALL canine adoptions and must be in a 30 mile radius.
  • For Cat adoption, please bring your own cat carrier.

  • Please bring PATIENCE while we complete our process efficiently with the CONTINUED GOAL to place our adoptable FURbabies into the best homes possible.

 

Adoption Requirements & Information:

To ensure successful placement of our pets into loving homes, HSYC implements an evaluation process for all adopters. Many of our pets have come to us from a rough start in life, and this process helps guarantee they will live the life they deserve.

 

  • Adopters must be at least 21 years of age.
  • All current pets must be spayed/neutered, current on vaccines and on heartworm preventative. (bring vet records for verification)
  • Family members should not have allergies to dogs/cats. 
  • Dogs and cats should be indoor pets; dogs should have suitable outdoor area for play/potty.
  • Declawing of cats is not permitted.
  • If you have current dogs, we require a meet-and-greet to ensure compatibility before adoption is approved. 
  • For all adoptions, we contact vet references. 
  • For dogs, we conduct a home visit to ensure the dog is comfortable and accepted by all memners (humans and pet) of the family.
  • Some cats and dogs may have additional requirement to those listed above.
