Hi Jack!
Daphne continues to amaze us and we fall more in love with her every day! We usually spend Christmas in Columbus, OH with my family and so we decided to bring Daphne along. We weren’t sure how she would do on the car ride so as a precaution I got some pills from the vet in case she needed to relax during the 8 hour drive. We never used even one of those pills, not on the way out or the way home. Daphne did better than most people I know! She was totally relaxed and happy, content to either hang out in the back laying on the pallet of blankets and cushioning we had made for her or to sit in the middle of the back seats (which were down to accommodate her) and rest partially on the center console between my husband and I as we drove. We stacked some pillows in the middle, between the front seats and the back so she would be comfortable and she rode like that quite a bit.
The other awesome thing about her was how she was with my nephews! They are 5 and 7, typical rambunctious little boys, and they had a blast with her. We were prepared to keep her separated from the boys in case things didn’t go well, but we had nothing to worry about. Daphne was so good with them - they played with her, just hung out with her, loved giving her treats, holding her leash while out walking (with adult supervision of course!), laying with her on the couch or floor. Our good girl has already learned to “sit” for a treat first without being told and her potty habits continue to improve…she did not have even one accident the whole time we were away, not even in the car! My whole family just loved Daphne, they were amazed at how social and sweet she is. My Dad is especially fond of her. I was surprised he let us leave with her, I think he wanted to keep her at his house! J
My apologies for going on and on about our sweet Daphne, I guess it’s because we are just so amazed at how perfect she is for us and how truly lucky we feel to have found her. When we lost our other dog so unexpectedly and suddenly after having him for 10 years, Daphne has managed to help us heal and fill that void, all the while endearing herself to us for the unique and wonderful dog that she is!
I’ve attached a few pictures here for you to see her with some of my family and what a good traveler she is. I thought you might get a kick out of seeing these. You were so instrumental in helping us get to know Daphne as we made the decision to bring her home. Please tell Megan that Daphne passed her second “kid test”, the first of which was when I came to see Daphne the first time at HSYC and a guy there looking at another dog let Megan bring his small kids into the fenced in area so I could see how Daphne would be with them. J
I continue to sing the praises of HSYC and what you all do! Thanks again!
Linda Ripper
PS I know they sometimes post updates on the website, but this is so long, they don’t need to do that. I truly just wanted to write you and let you know how she was doing because I believe you truly do care. Feel free to share any part of this that you would like.
